I know that movement can soften pain, because I’ve experienced it myself. After teaching for 22 years, my whole life changed when an MRI revealed an injury that requires a full hip replacement. I was told to get a new profession and take it easy, but I decided to do it differently. I threw away my painkillers and instead of waiting for things to get worse, I got my life back after injury through movement therapy, and am now dedicated to helping you do the same.
Movement therapy is like physical/yoga therapy, yet different.

My career began as soon as I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology when I moved to Anchorage, Alaska and became the Fitness Director of The Alaska Clubs. I worked as Fitness Director for 3 years before moving to San Diego to take a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Eclectic Hatha Yoga as preparation to dive deeper into Yoga Therapy back in 2002. After graduating from yoga training, I moved back to Denver and was hired at CorePower Yoga as creator of the Yoga Sculpt program and Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training in 2003.
In 2006, I opened Denver's first Cycle and Yoga Studio called QiFlow. My studio began as a Cycle/Yoga studio but it quickly grew into a studio that offered Barre, Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Cycle + Yoga Sculpt, Cycle + Barre, Cycle + HIIT, Cycle, Yoga, and Barre Teacher Trainings, and the QiTopia Adventure Retreats including QiTopia Mount Princeton, QiTopia Costa Rica, and QiTopia 14'er BootCamps.
From 2006-2010, I ran the QiFlow studios and continued to work and create for CorePower until I had my son in May of 2010. After he was born, I left CorePower to run my studios and to raise my son.
QiFlow was a popular Denver studio for almost 13 years until it closed down on October 30th, 2018. I closed my studio due to failed leasing negotiations and to focus on my mission of spreading movement health and longevity through the AgeDEFY movement therapy program.
I'm almost 45 years old, my life is totally different because of my hip injury, and more than ever before, I know how much my movement practice means to me.
When your freedom to move is taken from you, it changes you. Before I taught and practiced to stay in shape, now I move my body to manage pain and to keep active and energized as an injured mover in my 40s!
AgeDEFY is my everything ... The program was developed for me out of neccessity. I wanted to keep teaching, to keep moving and grooving, and to keep active even with my injury and that's what I did when I created AgeDEFY.
